Attach the handlebars
Tip: Stand in front of the bike to check the handlebars are straight with the wheel.Slide the stem onto the fork, line it up straight with the front wheel, and tighten the bolts evenly a little at a time. Angle the brake levers so they're easy for small hands to reach.

Attach the pedals
Tip: The left pedal tightens the opposite way to normal. If it feels stiff, stop and check you're turning it anticlockwise.Pedals are marked L and R. Screw the right pedal in clockwise and the left pedal in anticlockwise. Start by hand, then tighten with the spanner.

Set the saddle height
Tip: Never raise the seat post above the minimum insertion mark.With your child sitting on the saddle, they should be able to touch the ground with their tiptoes. Tighten the seat clamp firmly.

Final checks
Squeeze each brake lever and push the bike: the wheel shouldn't turn. Check the tyres are firm, the handlebars don't twist, and the wheels spin freely.
